👀 Worth Watching? Yes! It's a fun, easy watch that will keep you wanting to see more.

It took me a week or so to finish this drama, and I wasn't sure I would. Initially, I thought it would be one of those overly silly and ridiculous, nothing-makes-sense sort of shows, and it was, just a little. But mostly, it was a pretty entertaining watch.

Teach You a Lesson tackled a different bullying case at a different school in each episode, but I loved that none of them felt completely separate. The characters and stories crossed paths, making the drama feel like one complete world rather than the little bubble that K-drama characters sometimes seem to exist in. As for the bullying itself, not much honestly shocked me. I've seen some pretty insane bullying in K-dramas by this point. Well, maybe one thing shocked me. In one particular episode, it was actually the parents, rather than the kids, who managed to do that. No spoilers!

Maybe something else shocked me, and honestly continues to shock me in real life, was the kids' complete nonchalance toward the consequences of their actions. The show did a great job of showing how awful people can become on social media when they feel removed from the consequences. Someone can leave an absolutely vicious comment about a real human being, join thousands of people piling onto them, and then two seconds later they're scrolling through recipes or dog videos. There's this weird separation between what I'm doing on my phone and what I'm doing to an actual person. If you saw a bullied kid crying in front of you, would you just walk past them? Probably not. But if you saw that same kid crying in a TikTok video, would you stop, or would you simply scroll to the next one?

Thousands of people individually feeling justified in attacking somebody can still collectively create something monstrous.

The show had a wonderful cast, and the stories were interesting enough that I genuinely wanted to know what had happened in each episode. It often showed us the aftermath first before slowly revealing how everything got there, which kept me watching even when some of the storylines got a little ridiculous. Some of the characters could be a bit much too. Jin Ki-joo's overly emotional but incredibly tough character, paired with P.O's nervous, stuttering one, felt like a K-drama combination I've seen many times before. They still managed to bring me joy, but some of their sweeter moments became so sugary that I almost wanted to look away. Like watching a couple being way too affectionate in public. Cute, but please stop.

I know I'm not the only one who immediately spots familiar faces from my favorite dramas, so I have to mention how much I loved seeing the teacher from All of Us Are Dead and the mean dad from The Uncanny Counter!

🔥 Why You Should Watch

  • Great thriller moments that create some genuine tension

  • Strong fight scenes and plenty of action

  • Each case has enough mystery to keep you wondering what actually happened

  • The way some episodes reveal the aftermath first makes you want to piece everything together

  • A wonderful cast with plenty of memorable characters

  • The interconnected cases make the drama feel like one complete world

  • Some surprisingly thoughtful commentary on bullying, social media, and the consequences of online behavior

  • A good mix of action, mystery, comedy, and emotion

👎 What Might Not Work For Everyone

  • Some storylines are seriously ridiculous

  • Certain characters can feel exaggerated and unrealistic

  • Too much screaming, melodrama, and over-the-top emotional moments

  • There’s quite a bit of plot armor

  • Some character dynamics feel like familiar K-drama tropes

  • Some character reactions feel forced for the sake of the story

  • The wholesome moments occasionally become so sweet they cross into cringe

  • It’s entertaining, but don’t expect an especially deep or complex story

❤️ Final Verdict

I really enjoyed this drama, and I definitely think it's worth a watch! It's the kind of show you put on when you want to escape into something mindless, high-octane, and fun. It had its moments, some great and some that made me roll my eyes, but I was rarely bored. It's not particularly deep, and it doesn't always make sense, but I don't think it needs to. Sometimes you just want a drama that keeps you entertained, makes you laugh, gives you a good mystery and some great fight scenes, and Teach You a Lesson did exactly that for me.
