All these K-Dramas get 10/10 on my ratings.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
1. The Heirs (2013)
The Heirs is a classic high school K-Drama that beautifully blends romance, friendship, and the struggles of youth. The story revolves around a group of privileged high school students as they navigate the challenges of family expectations, friendships, and young love. At the heart of the drama is the relationship between Kim Tan, a charismatic and complex heir to a conglomerate, and Cha Eun Sang, a determined girl from a humble background.
This drama stands out not only for its compelling storyline but also for its stellar cast, led by Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye, who deliver captivating performances. The Heirs holds a special place for me as one of the first high school K-Dramas I ever watched, and it set the standard for everything I’ve loved in the genre since. Packed with emotional depth, relatable themes, and unforgettable moments, it’s no surprise this gem tops my list of must-watch high school dramas. Watch on Netflix. Trailer available on IMDb.
2. True Beauty (2020)
True Beauty is a high school K-Drama with a fresh take on the "ugly duckling" story. It follows Lim Ju Kyung, a talented and optimistic high school girl who uses makeup to transform her looks and gain confidence. However, beneath her new appearance, she struggles with insecurities about her natural self and the fear of being judged.
The drama explores her journey of self-acceptance, friendships, and a sweet yet complicated romance.
This is one of my favorite high school K-Dramas because of its unique story and how effortlessly it keeps you entertained. Moon Ga Young’s performance as Ju Kyung is outstanding, making the character both relatable and memorable. It’s a drama I never get tired of rewatching! Watch on Viki.
3. Extraordinary You (2019)
Extraordinary You is a unique and heartwarming high school K-Drama with a storyline that feels fresh and imaginative. It centers on Eun Dan Oh, a bright and lively high school girl who discovers that she’s actually a character in a comic book. Even more surprising, she’s only a supporting character destined to live out a pre-written fate. Refusing to accept this, Dan Oh sets out to change her story and discovers love and friendship along the way, particularly with an unnamed character who becomes her unexpected ally.
I absolutely loved this drama—it's like a comfort show I can turn to anytime. The chemistry between the leads is unforgettable, and I’ve been a fan of their work ever since ( (Rowoon and Kim Hye Yoon). It tells a one-of-a-kind story that keeps you hooked from start to finish, making it a must-watch for any K-Drama fan. Watch it on Viki.
4. Bitch X Rich (2023)
Bitch X Rich follows Kim Hye-In, a scholarship student who transfers to Cheongdam International High School, a place dominated by privilege and power. Hye-In’s life changes drastically when she becomes the sole witness to a murder involving Baek Je Na, the queen bee of the school. As she navigates the dangerous dynamics of her new environment, Hye-In is drawn into intense rivalries and secrets that could cost her everything.
Unlike typical high school drama leads, Hye-In is resourceful and resilient, making her story gripping and unpredictable. Lee Eun-Saem shines as Kim Hye-In, making the character unforgettable. This K-Drama is a nail-biting experience that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Watch on Wavve.
5. Night Has Come (2023)
Night Has Come is a K-Drama that plunges a group of high school students into a deadly game of Mafia during a field trip. The game forces them to make impossible choices as their survival depends on quick thinking and trust.
This drama stands out for its unique storytelling and shocking twists. A special mention goes to Cha Woo Min and Ahn Ji-ho, who deliver unforgettable performances that drive the tension. Watch on Viki.
BONUS: Weak Hero Class 1 (2022)
Weak Hero Class 1 is a K-Drama that tackles the harsh realities of bullying in high school. It follows Yeon Si Eun, a quiet student who uses his intelligence to stand up to those who try to break him. This drama dives into painful topics, making it a difficult but unforgettable watch.
Park Ji Hoon is exceptional as Si Eun, capturing the character’s quiet strength. Choi Hyun Wook and Hong Kyung also deliver strong performances, showcasing the bonds of friendship that emerge even in the darkest situations. Their chemistry brings an emotional core to the story that balances its intense themes.
This drama will stay with you for a while after watching but it is definitely worth a watch. Trust me.
Watch on Viki.
